Saddle seat

Saddle seat is almost similar to hunt seat or English style saddle used in horseback riding. The seat is mainly used to show off gaits of the horse. While using saddle seat jumping cannot be done if done it will hurt the horse’s back. Saddle seat was originated in United States and is less common in Europe, Canada, Australia and Africa.

Saddle seat was used by plantation owners in South America who used to travel across their fields by high stepping horses. They had to spend hours riding on horses while overseeing plantation so required a smooth and comfortable ride. So they discovered or developed a comfortable yet stylish saddle seat for their horses.

Saddle seat is best for horses with upright neck, animated gaits and high head carriage. Some of the well known breeds which work best wit saddle seats are American Saddlebred, Racking Horses, Morgans, National Show Horses, Tennessee Walking Horses, Arabians, Rocky Mountain Horses, Foxtrotters, Paso Finos, Hackneys and Missouri.

Saddle club

The saddle club is an Australian television series written by Jason Abelson and Kate Barris. The Crawfords television production house produced the series with Protocol Entertainment of Canada and was directed by Amie Custo and Stephen Mann.

The television series is based on famous children’s book by bonnie Bryant. The show started telecasted on TV in 2001 and is about three girls taking care of horses. Over the years number of new characters has been added and series attract viewers of all age.

In UK program is telecasted on CITV, in Canada on YTV, on ABC and FOX8 in Australia and on discovery kids in united states. The stars of the saddle club have launched till date four albums with first one in 2002.

Hali simpson who plays the role of Veronica Diangelo released solo album called princess veronica in 2003. the saddle club group has launched a number of singles and solo singles by heli simpson, Ashley and Melanie have also been released.

In 2004 at Australia Sydney royal easter show live performances by cast members were shown. Tickets were sold in minutes showing the popularity of show and thousands of fans were not able to get in. approximate 7000 to 8000 fans entered Sydney SuperDome daily to have a glimpse of their favorite celebrity.

The cast of the series have grown to large number in these last few years: Sophie Bennnet as Stephanie. Keenan MacWilliam as Carolena, Lara Jean Marshall as Lisa, Heli Simpson as veronica, Brett Tucker as Max Regnery, Catherine Wilkin as Reg, Kia Luby as Kristi Cavanaugh, Mariska Siketa, Glenn Meldrum, Jessie Jacobs, Janelle Corlass, Nathan Phillips, Alex Marriott, Maggie King, Sophie Hensser, Anthony Hammer, Patrick Harvey, Daniel Daperis, Chris Kirby, Melanie Ryder, Tony Hawkins and many others.

The saddle club was telecasted in two series with total 26 episodes in each season. Several videos, DVDs and programs have been released due to popularity of the show. Series were shot in Yarra Valley in Victoria.  In first series characters were dealing with transition from childhood to youth and second series sees challenges faced by girls as a teenagers. A third series in under production and may release in early 2008.

The stars of the show are its horses. A variety of horses are shot in series as Starlight, Belle, Prancer, Garnet, Comanche, Patch, Cobalt, Delilah, Barq, Pepper, Dime, Strom, Angel, Diablo, Samson, Hugo, Teddy, Penny, Nickel and Windsong.

Some of the major characters of the series are Stephanie, a stubborn tomboy who loves horses. She works in stable to earn more for riding Comanche and Belle. She has a boyfriend named Phil Marsten.

Lisa rides Patch and Prancer. She saved Stevie’s life in an episode and is being kissed by Skye Ransom. Lisa is also interested in ballet, tennis classes, and horse riding. Veronica is a spoiled daughter of wealthy parents, she loves insulting others. She has Garnet and Cobalt.
